Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Strawberry & Banana Smoothie … a healthy way to kickstart the day

I’ve always loved smoothies and I have never realised how easy it is to make them – the basic ingredients are plain yoghurt, milk and fruits. Just blend for a few seconds till smooth. I’ve always heard that plain yoghurts are very nutritious but I never like having it on its own because it’s too sour for my palatte. Hence blending with sweet fruits (I used the last of the organic strawberries) to balance the sourness sounds like a good way to enjoy the health benefits of plain yoghurt. And the good thing about smoothies is that it’s really filling, in fact I usually couldn’t finish everything in one go. Instead of a greasy, sinful meal, it’s nice to have something healthier like a smoothie once in a while. The sweet flavours of banana and strawberry is a classic mix and they complement each other well.

Ingredients
(makes one tall glass)

Recipe adapted from 500 Juices & Smoothies by Christine Watson

1 ripe banana, peeled and quartered
150g strawberries, hulled
100ml plain low-fat yoghurt
60ml milk

Directions
Put all the ingredients in a blender. Blend for 1 minute or until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve immediately.

Note: You can add some honey to blend if it’s not sweet enough for you.

That’s a great idea to use smoothies as a way of eating more yogurt! I love your strawberry print napkin!

This is a smart way to use plain yogurt! I like how you simply garnished the smoothie with a piece of strawberry and how the strawberry and banana look in the background.

Very healthy, I will try with yogurt too next time. I have a dairy-free smoothie in my blog which is alcoholic but you can also skip the alcohol too. More for afternoon or evenings.

thanks for sharing this recipe. Now I know it is so simple to make. My girl loves strawberry smoothies and we usually have it at the cafe/ restaurant and it costs us RM20 per glass. And not all restauant serves good smoothies. Now I can make for her.

I hope your girl likes the taste of this smoothie as compared to the ones outside. Yes, most things are much cheaper if we make it at home :)
