Belgium Waffles

I bought a Belgium waffle maker a while ago and it has since been a great investment – we can now enjoy waffles anytime at home! The home-made version is a fraction of the price charged at cafes, and the batter is very easy to prepare (5-10 minutes). I tried many waffles recipes, and this version (tweaked and adapted) has got to be the easiest and tastiest version of all.

Belgium waffles are typically thicker than usual waffles and they have deeper grid patterned pockets (great for collecting maple syrup in them… so yummy!) This recipe can be used for any type of waffles maker though, not just Belgium. Enjoy!

Note: I am using L’EQUIP Belgium Waffle Maker (Disclosure: Qoo10 Singapore affiliate link). It is a South Korean brand, shipped from Korea and made in China. I think it is an awesome waffle maker which is fun and easy to operate, and makes consistently tasty and thick waffles every time. You can also adjust how crisp or soft you like your waffles to be. My only grouse is that you can’t take apart the machine for cleaning, so you just have to wipe it clean with a moist cloth and air-dry after use. It has served us well for six months (and counting!).

  5. Mmmm looks so good!!! Can’t wait to try it! Thanks for the recipe :) Can I check if there was a typo and that the recipe should use 200ml instead of 100ml of buttermilk? Thank you!

  6. Hi. Thanks for the recipe. Where can we purchase buttermilk besides iherb?

  7. I am interested to get the same waffle maker. Do you need to get an additional adapter or transmitter in order to use the waffle maker in Sg? Noted that the voltage requirement is different in Korea…

    • The voltage in SG and South Korea is the same (220V). Please refer to the seller clarification (copied from its Q n A):
“The item is for 220V , 60HZ , 2 pin plug from Korea.
It can be used in Singapore and don’t need a transformer.
But the plug cord type is 2 round pins.
So Buyers need to change a plug connector in Singapore.”

    • Thanks! I am getting 1 too!!

  8. Could u tell me what extra plug u need so that I can use th le’quip waffle maker in sg. I am really keen to buy but worried I cannot use it.
