  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup loosely packed Thai holy basil leaves
  • cornstarch solution dissolve 1 tsp corn starch mix in 2 tbsp water

(A) Sauce

  • 3/4 tbsp Thai fish sauce to taste
  • 1/4 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 100 ml water

To serve as a one-dish meal

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in wok. Stir fry onions, garlic and chilli briefly until aromatic.
  2. Add minced pork. Stir fry pork until half cooked on surface, while constantly breaking the meat to smaller bits with a spatula. Add long beans and stir fry until pork is totally cooked on surface.
  3. Add sauce (A) and sugar. Let the sauce bubble briefly, then thicken with cornstarch solution.
  4. Add basil and turn off the stove. Stir through while the sauce is bubbly hot, until the basil is just withered.
  5. To serve as a one-dish meal, serve with a fried egg, sliced cucumbers, steamed rice and chilli padi.

  1. I miss Thai basil. Don’t see them over here…this looks light, yet very flavoursome and tasty.

  2. Looks very delicious! I want the entire set with rice, basil pork, egg and cucumber. Even your cucumber is carved so meticulously. ;p

No access to kitchen during staycation is good right? I don’t miss my kitchen when I am on vacation. Getting lazier, even mentally. Oops :(

Happy 2017 to you and your family. Good health to all!

    • Oh the cucumber was prepped with a zigzag peeler, not carved by hand ;)

I miss the kitchen much when I don’t have access to it (lol). HNY!

  3. Hi! Just to check where can I get the thai holy basil leaves in SG?
