Samyang Spicy Fried Chicken Ramen

Just for fun, I decided to post occassional reviews of the instant noodles I am currently eating and loving. Why not? Since instant foods are staples of a noob cook, I grew up on them (not milk, not rice) and still eat them frequently. I love to try out new flavours.
I’ll start with the most recent instant noodles discovery of mine (I know I am s-l-o-w): Samyang’s Spicy Fried Chicken Ramen (Buldalk Bokkeummyeon). I picked it up because it was the second most popular instant noodles at the Korean supermarket I was browsing at. There was a huge chilli icon at the price tag indicating hot. That really piqued my curiosity.

Coincidentally, it was also rated second on The Ramen Rater’s Top 10 Spiciest Instant Noodles 2013 Edition (thanks adelinekcy on instagram for the info). Since I love spicy foods, I can’t give this a miss :)

The ramen noodle block. It weighs 110 grams. Unless you are super hungry or a big eater, I think it’s good for two persons to share.
Besides the noodles, each packet also come with two sachets.
Top panel: seaweed and sesame seeds (for garnishing and topping)
Bottom panel: the potent hot sauce
Just cook the noodles in a pot of water for a few minutes. Drain and transfer noodles to serving bowl, add in the hot sauce seasoning and mix well. Did a taste test at this point in time – yes they are indeed very very very hot :D
Sprinkle the sachet of seaweed and sesame seeds to garnish.

Verdict
This is the HOTTEST instant noodles I have tried, even by my standard for someone who loves spicy food. Perhaps I am not that good with spicy foods as I think I am? puhaha … I had bee-stung lips and stuffy eyes/nose while eating. It is quite tasty, just simply too hot for me to finish in one go. They can use this for Running Man challenge – maybe two sachet of sauce for one small serving (haha). I recommend you add half or three-quarter pack of seasoning if this is your first time trying it. I eat this as a mood uplifter – you can’t feel down while your tongue is on fire at the same time, right?

Glad I’m not the only one who finds it spicy! I only had 2 mouthfuls before I gave up on it and had to finish a whole bottle of soy milk to extinguish the fire in my mouth..
me too… I’m beginning to doubt if I can really take spicy food or not … haha
Power! From the front packaging, I see lots of “fire”….hahaha…but you sure the quantity is for 2 pple? You are small eater, more so :D….I don’t know leh, I never found an instant noodles product where one package can feed two.
I don’t think I can take the heat though :O looks and sounds spicy. But I do like that there is a packet of nori seaweed and sesame seeds.
Recently I also tried an instant noodle 干捞面 (a Taiwanese product). Not bad. I don’t know but I do have a craving for instant noodles once in a while.
from what I know, the Korean instant noodles are bigger packet than our usual local ramen. I can finish a packet but will be bloated after that haha … for Taiwan I like their beef ramen with real beef chunks!
Totally agree that this is one of the spiciest ramen I have ever eaten too! Absolutely Not for the faint hearted. Do give us your review if you have tried the number 1 ramen on the ramen rater! :)

Spicy sounds great to me. Not really a fan of instant noodles..but I would love to try this one.
If the color is an indication of the spiciness…yes, is sure looks spicy.

So I bought one of these bad boys at HMart thinking it’s a good challenge to have. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see your verdict so I put the entire package of sauce and believe me I’ve never ever tried spicy noodles like this before! It tasted great but it was too spicy! I finished the entire noodles but I drank about 5 glasses full of milk :D
hahaha …. but it’s more thrilling to put in the whole packet ya? and at least you finished them *unlock achievement*
I bought it during a promotion at the supermarket and the promoter highly recommended it so I bought. I’m a person who love spicy food but this I really surrender. I throw the whole plate of noodles away after trying one spoonful because really can’t take it. End up I have to put a note on the rest of the packets to warn others to add only 1/3 of the hot sauce.
could i recommend st to you?
after cook noodle,
remove water and add sause in the pot(not bowl!)
and keep boiling.

Thanks for your posting here however I am really a very spicy person.. I don’t find this any spicier than what I usually eat (I eat a lot of chilli padi).. so a bit disappointing when I first tried it. i am looking aound if can find anything in the market more spicier than this :) thanks!
