Chatuchak Market Food Series 2: Coconut Ice Cream
August 29, 2008 – 11:50 am by wiffyHow does one beat the blistering heat at the Chatuchak Market in Bangkok?
How about some coconut ice cream, served on a coconut husk , complete with coconut flesh and a cup of complimentary coconut juice?
This is such clever marketing. Whearas other stalls are struggling to sell these mini coconuts for 5 baht each… an enterprising stall repackaged the mini coconut by making ice cream out of it, served in its husk for maximum aesthetics, and your ice cream also comes with a complimentary cup of coconut juice - all for just 25 baht (US$0.75, S$1). Business IS brisk. These ice cream offer the best relief from the heat

Yay! first comment!
Those young coconut ice cream cups look so awesome. I like that they add the scraped flesh in. And the fresh coconut juice too? For 75 cents? Wah, I am jealous.
Hey, thanks for visiting my site and commenting. I wonder if you could help me out a little bit. I get a fair number of hits from Singapore. Could you tell me if my site loads faster or slower than other US-based food blogs? I am thinking that perhaps 5 posts per page is slowing the page load time down. But I need the opinion of non-US visitors.

YUMMMM oh my gosh what a great idea! I love the little colorful flag in the ice cream. I want to make a trip to a local Asian foods store one of these days…is there anything specific that you recommend?

Coconut icecream is exactly what I could eat now! After a terrible summer we’ve got a hot and humid day and I really don’t know how to deal with it!

Great marketing move indeed. They look so much more appealing in the coconut shell. Lots of ice cream and drinks to beat the heat are a must in chatuchak.

That looks so good. And yes, I’d definitely pick coconut ice cream served in its shell with a free coconut juice over the other vendors.
BTW, I was debating whether to go to Ikea today because of the weekend sale, and because they’re offering free breakfast. Then lo and behold, my anti-spam word is Ikea! So I guess I gotta go!
